អំពីឈ្មោះ “របងរមាស”

របងរមាស គឺជាឈ្មោះក្រុមប្រាសាទមួយដែលមានទីតាំងស្ថិតនៅក្នុងតំបន់ប្រាសាទសំបូរព្រៃគុក មានចម្ងាយប្រមាណ២គីឡូម៉ែត្រខាងជើងក្រុមប្រាសាទសំខាន់ៗទាំងបី និងស្ថិតនៅខាងលិចក្រុមប្រាសាទស្រីគ្រប់ល័ក្ខណចម្ងាយប្រមាណ ១០០ម៉ែត្រ។ នៅក្នុងក្រុម​ប្រាសាទរបងរមាស មានប្រាសាទសរុបចំនួន ៩ ដែលក្នុងនោះមានប្រាសាទចំនួន ៨ សាងអំពីឥដ្ឋ និងប្រាសាទចំនួន១ សាងអំពីថ្មបាយក្រៀម ហើយរាល់សំណង់ទាំងអស់សុទ្ធសឹងទំនងសាងឡើងនៅក្នុងរជ្ជកាល​ព្រះបាទសូរ្យវរ្ម័នទី១ (គ.ស.១០០២-១០៤៩) ដែលគេអាចដឹងតាមរយៈតឹកតាងសិលាចារឹកមួយនៅតួប៉ម K.4 ចុះបញ្ជីលេខ K.153 (សព្វថ្ងៃរក្សាទុកនៅសារមន្ទីរខេត្តកំពង់ធំ)។ ក្រុមប្រាសាទនេះចាប់ផ្តើមមានការសិក្សាស្រាវជ្រាវដំបូងតាំងពីឆ្នាំ ១៩០៧ ដោយលោក George Morand និងក្រោយមកនៅឆ្នាំ១៩១៣ លោក Henri Parmentier បានសិក្សាលម្អិតជាងមុន។​អ្នក​ប្រាជ្ញផ្នែកប្រវត្តិសិល្បៈដែលធ្លាប់បានសិក្សាកន្លងមក បានកត់ត្រាឈ្មោះក្រុមប្រាសាទនេះតាមសំនៀងអ្នកស្រុក​​ហៅថា “របងរមាស” ប៉ុន្តែគេពុំធ្លាប់សិក្សាលម្អិតអំពីឈ្មោះនេះទេ។ កន្លងមក កាលណាគេឮឈ្មោះនេះ គេតែងនឹកស្រមៃថាប្រាសាទនេះពីមុនមកជាកន្លែងមានចិញ្ចឹមសត្វរមា​ស ឬតម្កល់សត្វរមាស តែបើយកមកគិតឡើងវិញទៅទំនងពុំដូច្នេះឡើយ។ តើឈ្មោះ “របងរមាស” មានន័យយ៉ាងណា?

ឈ្មោះ “របងរមាស” ផ្សំឡើងអំពីពាក្យចំនួនពីរគឺ “របង” និង “រមាស”។ នៅក្នុងវចនានុក្រម​ខ្មែររបស់ពុទ្ធសាសនបណ្ឌិត្យពន្យល់ថា “របង” គឺជាចំណារមាំធ្វើរាំងភូមិ រាំងដំណាលជាដើម សម្រាប់ការពារមិនឲ្យសត្វឬមនុស្សចូលបាន (របងភូមិ របងចម្ការ)។ ចំណែកពាក្យ “រមាស” វិញ គឺជាសត្វចតុប្បាទព្រៃមួយប្រភេទ រាងរលមាំសំបុកពោះទ្រយុកស្រដៀងនឹងជ្រូកស្រុក ប្រអប់ស្រដៀងនឹងដំរី ក្បាលតូចឆ្លឺមមិនសមនឹងមាត្រ ស្បែកក្រាស់ មានកុយនៅចំពីលើច្រមុះ ជាសត្វសាហាវ បរិភោគអនុបាទិន្នកជាតិជាអាហារ។ សូមបញ្ជាក់ថា ការហៅឈ្មោះប្រាសាទនេះថា “របងរមាស” ដូច្នេះ គឺគេសំដៅទៅលើប្រាសាទដែលសាងឡើងអំពីថ្មបាយក្រៀម មានរាងជាអគារមាន​លំនាំជាបន្ទប់វែង រាងបួនជ្រុងទ្រវែង ហើយមានសសរពីរជួរស្របនឹងជញ្ជាំងខាងត្បូង និងខាងជើង ដែលសសរទាំងពីរជួរខណ្ឌចែកដោយបន្ទប់វែងមួយ បង្កើតឱ្យមានល្វែងធំមួយនៅកណ្តាល និងអមដោយល្វែងតូចៗពីរនៅសងខាង ព្រមទាំងមានទ្វារចូលនៅទិសខាងកើតនិងខាងលិចមានតួលយចេញមកក្រៅដែលអមដោយសសរវែង និងមានទ្វារចូលបួនផ្សេងទៀតនៅតាមជញ្ជាំងខាងជើងនិងខាងត្បូង។ ហេតុដូច្នេះ បើយើងយកអត្ថន័យតាមវចនានុក្រមខ្មែរមកផ្សំបញ្ចូលគ្នា យើងនឹងបានន័យរួមមួយដោយសង្ខេបថា “របងដែលព័ទ្ធសត្វរមាស”។

នៅក្នុងអត្ថបទនេះ យើងស្នើថាឈ្មោះ “របងរមាស” ទំនងពុំមានន័យបែបនោះឡើយ។ ប៉ុន្តែយើងស្នើថា ការដែលគេហៅថា “របងរមាស” ដូច្នេះ មកពីគេសំដៅទៅលើសសររបស់ប្រាសាទដែលសាងអំពីថ្មបាយក្រៀមមានរាងដូចជារបងមួយជួរ ហើយចំណែកពាក្យ “រមាស” វិញ គឺទំនងគេសំដៅដល់ពណ៌របស់ថ្មបាយក្រៀមដែលមានពណ៌ក្រហមក្រម៉ៅ។ ពាក្យ “រមាស” ជាពាក្យក្នុងភាសាខ្មែរដែលមនុស្សម្នានៅប្រើប្រាស់ច្រើន ជាពិសេស អ្នកស្រុករស់នៅតំបន់ជនបទនានាក្នុងខេត្តកំពង់ធំ ដូចជាស្រុកសណ្តាន់ជាដើម។ ឧទាហរណ៍៖ កាលណាគេពាក់អាវដល់បែក​ញើសខ្លាំង នៅលើកអាវនឹងប្រឡាក់ក្អែលឡើងពណ៌ក្រហមក្រម៉ៅ ឬពណ៌ខ្មៅ គេច្រើនតែនិយាយថា “ពាក់អាវឡើងរមាសហើយ”។ ក្រៅពីនេះ បើកាលណាវត្ថុប្រើប្រាស់ផ្សេងៗប្រចាំថ្ងៃឡើងអាច់ម៍ចៃ ចេញពណ៌ក្រហមក្រម៉ៅ ឬពណ៌ខ្មៅ ក៏គេហៅថា “រមាស” ដូចគ្នា (សសរផ្ទះឡើង​រមាស, ដងចបឡើងរមាស ជាដើម)។ ដូច្នេះ ឈ្មោះប្រាសាទដែលអ្នកស្រុកហៅថា “របងរមាស” ទំនងមានន័យសំដៅដល់សសរប្រាសាទជាជួរដែលមានពណ៌រមាស (ពណ៌ក្រហមក្រម៉ៅ)។

ការគិតដូច្នេះពុំមែនមានតែនៅតំបន់សំបូរព្រៃគុកមួយប៉ុណ្ណោះទេ ដ្បិតយើងឃើញមានឧទាហរណ៍ផ្សេងៗទៀតនៅតំបន់អង្គរ ឬនៅភ្នំគូលែនជាដើម។ នៅតំបន់អង្គរ មានប្រាសាទមួយ​ដែលដើរតួនាទីជាក្រោលដាក់សត្វដំរី ឬក្រោលផ្សំាងសត្វដំរី មានឈ្មោះថា “ក្រោលរមាស” ហើយជាឈ្មោះដែលគេហៅតគ្នាមក និងស្គាល់តាមរយៈរឿងព្រេងនិទាន។ សំណង់នោះមានរាងប្រហែលពងក្រពើ ធ្វើអំពីថ្មបាយក្រៀម ម្ល៉ោះហើយយើងគិតថាករណីនេះមិនខុសពីនៅសំបូរព្រៃគុកទេ ពោល គឺគេហៅ “ក្រោល” សំដៅដល់រាងប្រាសាទ និង “រមាស” សំដៅដល់ពណ៌ថ្មបាយក្រៀមដែលមានពណ៌ក្រម៉ៅ។ ចំណែក ប្រាសាទក្រោលរមាស នៅលើភ្នំគូលែន ក៏មិនខុសគ្នាដែរ ជាប្រាសាទដែលសាងអំពីថ្មបាយក្រៀម មានកំពែងព័ទ្ធជុំវិញ។ ជារួមមក យើងសន្និដ្ឋានថា “របងរមាស” គឺជាឈ្មោះដែលអ្នកស្រុកហៅសំដៅដល់​តួប៉ម​ប្រាសាទមានរាងបួនជ្រុងទ្រវែងធ្វើអំពីបាយក្រៀម ដែលចង់មានន័យថា “របងដែលមានពណ៌រមាស (ពណ៌ក្រហមក្រម៉ៅ)។ ទោះបីជាយ៉ាងណា នេះជាការស្នើបឋមមួយ ទាមទារឲ្យមានការ​សិក្សាវែងឆ្ងាយតទៀត។

The name Robang Romeas

Robang Romeas is the name of a group of temples located in the Sambo Prei Kuk area. It is about two kilometers north of three main temples and a hundred meters west of the Srei Krub Leak temple’s group. There are nine temples in the Robang Romeas group. Eight of them were made of brick, and one was made of laterite. Based on inscription K.153, all temples in the group were built in the reign of King Suryavarman I (1002-1050 CE). The temples were studied by George Morand. Later, they were studied in detail by Henri Parmentier in 1913. Based on the people in the region, the scholars call the temples in the group Robang Romeas. This name could be referring to the place to raise or to keep the rhinoceros. However, this issue has never been studying before. Thus, what is the meaning of Robang Romeas?

Robang means the fence and Romeas means rhinoceros. Thus, Robong Romeas means the fence of rhinoceros. People call a temple Robang Romeas only if it is made of laterite, has a long rectangular shape hall, there are two rows of columns that parallel to the wall of north-south direction, two doors, one in the east and another one in the west, there are wings that support by long columns, and there are four doors on the wall of north-south direction. 

In contrast, it is argued that Robong Romeas does not mean the fence of rhinoceros. The word Robong might refer to the columns or the walls of the temple made of laterite blocks. Romeas could be referring to the colour of laterite, relatively dark-red. The word Romeas has wildly used, especially in Kampong Thom province. For instance, when people see someone wears a dirty sweatshirt they say “You wear the shirt till Romeas”. Also, if people see something that becomes dirty or changes the colour to dark red, they say that thing is Romeas. Therefore, Robong Romeas might be referring to dark-red columns of the temple.

The same thinking does not exist only in the Sombo Prei Kuk but also in the Angkor region and Phnom Kulen. For instance, a temple in the Angkor region calls Krol Romeas but might be used as a shelter for the elephant. The structure has an oval shape made of laterite. Here, Krol means the temple, and Romeas refers to the colour of laterite. Similarly, the Krol Romeas temple located in Phnom Kulen is also made of laterite.

It is also important to see another meaning of the word Romeas in the dictionary. It means tarnish, dark, or bruise. Similar to the case of Robang Romeas temple, the colour of the stone at Prasat Lork in Puk Yoy village, Srayov commune, Stung sen district, Kampong Thom province is used to give the name to the temple. Lork means dry.

In conclusion, to some extent, Robang Romeas could be the name that local people call a rectangular shape temple, with the walls or columns look like the fence, and have dark-red colour or Romeas.
